Sasperella la Sirène | “Drifting weightlessly through the ether”

Lovelab opened the new group exhibition “Seeds” on March 21 with a large spring gathering,  – marking the fifth Dream staged at Lovelab, an ongoing salon format where art, sound and conversation converge.

At a moment when authoritarian forces are eroding democracy across the globe while war and ecological devastation accelerate, new movements of resistance and renewal are already taking root. “Seeds” brings together artistic positions that search for utopian potential within crisis – and presents them as interview clips with participating artists.

The internationally acclaimed aerial photographs of J. Henry Fair reveal the disturbing beauty of industrial environmental destruction. For Seeds, he presents work documenting the struggle to protect the Okefenokee Swamp – a fight for land, life and future.

Reiner Heidorn presents a North America map created specifically for the exhibition as part of his project Overpainting History. By overpainting a historical school map, the work becomes a painterly reflection on the colonial settler project and its contemporary return in the imperial fantasies of American fascism.

Sasperella La Sirène brings a vision emerging from indigenous work dedicated to protecting the Amazon rainforest, transforming it into a dense musical trance-weaving of voices, memory and resistance.

Tracing the paths of his indigenous ancestors, Inö will present new music from Latin America – sounds from cultures whose knowledge of community and nature gains renewed urgency in a time of planetary crisis.

Tim Ra presents new video and sound works that probe the depths of our dystopian present while opening psychedelic and futuristic perspectives – sonic probes into possible futures.

At the symbolic center of the exhibition stands a planetary system of preserved dandelion seed heads by Lavanya Honeyseeda. The suspended seeds form a cosmic mobile of possibility and dissemination – a quiet but powerful image of renewal and of the seeds from which new worlds may grow.

Jens Strüver will provide the springtime atmosphere with a carefully curated utopian DJ set, framed by live contributions from Lavanya Honeyseeda, Tim Ra, Inö and Sasperella.
