Shortly before the coup in Turkey in July 2016, painter B.B. played her trumpet on the roofs of Istiklal, a major shopping street in Istanbul, interpreting “Please don’t talk about me, when I’m gone”. As president Erdogan is cleaning away the “parallel structure” supposedly behind the coup, Turkey is turning into a darker place.
