Ra · Plankton: Kosmische Kuriere

Ra & Plankton embark on a cosmic voyage through sound, weaving together elements of jazz, classical, exotica, and cinematic avant-garde. Their music is both grounded and transcendent, familiar yet otherworldly. Airy, transparent instrumentation and laid-back grooves—often unfolding without drums—carry the listener effortlessly into the cosmic vastness.

Side A: A Space Ballet through the Universe

The album’s A-side glides with the lightness and elegance of a space ballet: from the shimmering dawn of “Vénus Matinée,” to the playful unpredictability of “Planet außer Kurs,” and onward to the hypnotic pulse of “Pulsar”—an interstellar bolero that swells with passion and crescendos into galactic ecstasy with triumphant mariachi trumpets. After a dizzying drift through the “Labyrinth der Sterne,” the elegant “Saturn Soirée” invites you to cruise gracefully amidst Saturn’s rings.

Side B: Deeper, Darker Sonic Realms

The B-side ventures into deeper, darker territories. These three pieces form an atmospheric suite reminiscent of the grand orchestral sci-fi soundscapes of classic Hollywood. “Darkstar” and “Nebula,” with their choral textures, evoke the misty nostalgia of cinematic masters, before the journey concludes in the weightless sweetness of “Nautes Aetheris.”

Plankton and Ra—the Cosmic Couriers—offer up the sweet nectar of a foreign universe, which, in its beauty and strangeness, feels entirely like home.
